Chiropractic

Chiropractic
Chiropractic is one of Ontario's largest primary-contact healthcare professions, offering a non-invasive, hands-on approach to addressing issues with the neuromusculoskeletal system—bones, muscles, and nerves. Chiropractors use manual techniques and advanced technology to diagnose, treat, and prevent disorders related to the spine, pelvis, joints, and nervous system. Care plans are tailored to each patient’s unique needs, encompassing therapeutic exercises, lifestyle guidance, and non-invasive therapies. Chiropractic care often serves as a primary treatment, addressing the root cause of chronic conditions and enhancing overall well-being, while also complementing medical treatments when needed.

Network Spinal Analysis (NSA)

Network Spinal Analysis
Network Spinal Analysis (NSA) is a gentle, effective chiropractic approach that enhances brain-body connection, relieves spinal tension, and improves overall well-being. Using light manual contacts on the spine, NSA promotes self-healing, corrects posture, reduces pain, and fosters emotional and physical balance. Care progresses through three levels: building awareness and releasing tension, transforming neural patterns, and awakening authentic living through heart-brain integration. NSA addresses back pain, headaches, fatigue, emotional distress, and digestive issues while improving flexibility, vitality, and immunity. Supported by research, NSA offers transformative benefits beyond traditional lifestyle practices.

Massage

Massage
Massage therapy offers numerous benefits, from relaxation and stress relief to pain reduction and improved physical function. Using techniques like pressure, kneading, and mobilization, Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) customize treatments to enhance muscle, joint, and connective tissue health, often incorporating hydrotherapy, stretching, and exercises. Lymphatic Massage, a gentle, rhythmic technique, promotes lymph flow, reducing inflammation, improving healing, and alleviating conditions such as lymphedema, migraines, arthritis, and stress. By addressing both physical and emotional well-being, massage therapy supports a healthier and more balanced quality of life.

Orthotics

Orthotics
Each foot contains 19 muscles, 26 bones, 33 joints, and 107 ligaments, making proper foot support essential for overall health. Custom orthotics are precision devices designed to correct foot disorders, improve gait, and relieve stress that can cause pain throughout the body. They help treat issues like excessive pronation, supination, flat feet, bunions, plantar fasciitis, and heel or joint pain. Orthotics redistribute pressure to alleviate discomfort and enhance standing, walking, and running efficiency. If you experience foot, joint, or back pain or notice uneven shoe wear, consider an orthotic assessment to explore options, including orthotic shoes and sandals.

Health Issues

Health Issues
Chiropractic care addresses issues related to bones, muscles, and nerves, helping with pain, stiffness, and weakness while promoting overall well-being through stress reduction and improved nerve health. Massage therapy alleviates muscle tension, reduces stress, and enhances overall wellness. Naturopathic medicine takes a holistic, natural approach to health, addressing conditions like skin problems and hormonal imbalances to support balanced and sustainable well-being.

Faqs

What to expect on your first visit?
At Bracebridge Chiropractic & Wellness Centre we take your health seriously. Our assessments and examinations are thorough. All of this takes time, so we ask that you completely fill out your paperwork prior to your first visit. The doctor will then consult with you to better understand your problem. Your assessment will focus on your area of concern as well as the overall state of your body & spine. After the doctor diagnoses your condition, a discussion of treatment options and approaches follows, culminating with your first treatment if appropriate. Please plan to spend an hour for your first visit, and plan on seeing the doctor the following day. We prefer an immediate follow-up visit in order to assess your body’s reaction. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. We are open, friendly, and are excited to help you!
What problems are helped by chiropractic?
Chiropractors can help with issues related to the joints, muscles, and bones, as well as conditions affecting the nervous system, which can impact various organs in the body. Common conditions that may benefit from chiropractic care include back and neck pain, stiffness, headaches, and pain in the shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles, and feet. Additionally, chiropractors can assist with conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, numbness and tingling in the limbs, heel pain, constipation, colic, earaches, stress, irritable bowel syndrome, and fibromyalgia.
Do I need a referral?
No. Chiropractors fall under the category of “primary-care physicians.” Like dentists, a referral is not needed.
Are Chiropractors Doctors?
There are many different types of doctors. Chiropractors are Doctors of Chiropractic. Dentists are Doctors of Dentistry. Your family doctor is a Medical Doctor, etc. Each type of doctor has their speciality. Chiropractors diagnose and treat conditions related to the bones, joints, and nerves of the body.To receive the doctor of chiropractic degree, candidates must complete extensive undergraduate prerequisites (most have an undergraduate degree) and four years of graduate-level instruction and internship at an accredited chiropractic institution. Comprehensive knowledge of all systems of the body and diagnostic procedures enable the chiropractor to thoroughly evaluate a patient, address disorders relating to the neuro-musculo-skeletal system and determine the need for referral to another health care provider.
Does Chiropractic treat any other problems besides back problems?
Chiropractic is an effective source of preventative and wellness care for the whole body. The anatomical area of focus is the spine, and this has created the perception that a chiropractor is a “back doctor.” Although this perception is not entirely incorrect, it is very much incomplete. Doctors of chiropractic are a highly appropriate resource in matters of work-place safety, stress management, injury prevention, athletic injuries, postural correction and nutritional counselling. Remember, there are many bones & joints in the body, all of which respond well to chiropractic care. Common areas treated by chiropractors include the shoulders, wrists, knees, and hips.
Does OHIP cover Chiropractic?
No. However, many insurance health benefits do have coverage for chiropractic, massage, orthotics, etc. Contact your human resources department for details on your plan coverage.
Is it safe to see a chiropractor if I'm pregnant?
Anytime is a good time to improve the health of our bones, joints and nerves. Pregnant mothers may find that chiropractic adjustments improve their pregnancy and make delivery easier for themselves and their baby. Adjusting methods are always adapted to a patient’s size, weight, age, and condition of health.
If I start chiropractic care, will I need it for life?
You may have heard the notion that once you go to a chiropractor you have to keep going back. Before we answer that question, ask yourself how many times you have visited a dentist? Like most people, you’ve probably gone dozens of times. Why? Quite simply, to prevent your teeth from getting bad and to maintain their health. Once chiropractic care eliminates your pain and rehabilitates the injured tissues we do recommend that you maintain a schedule of periodic spinal checkups for prevention & maintenance. Like your dentist and like many of the medical experts are now recognizing, prevention is the key to reducing recurrences of existing health conditions and minimizing new injuries in the future. So the answer is yes, we want you to keep coming back, but just periodically. Periodic chiropractic care minimizes spinal and nerve stresses, reduces recurrences of old injuries, prevents new injuries from developing, and minimizes degenerative processes, which enhances overall health and wellness.
Is chiropractic care expensive?
Doctors of chiropractic provide effective, low-cost health care for a wide range of conditions. If an injury is work-related, then WSIB will cover costs for chiropractic care. If an injury is due to a car accident, then the car insurance company will cover the costs for chiropractic care.

Dr. Nick is an amazing chiropractor. I have a really bad back and he always fits me in last minute and will spend extra time on my back when necessary. I have been to other chiropractors in the past but ever since going to Dr. Nick, I haven’t been anywhere else. Thanks Dr. Nick!

Have had a knee injury for over 12 years from playing hockey (Goalie). Sports doctor said the knee wasn’t bad enough for surgery and always had physio done to try and heal the problem. After one visit here I cannot believe the difference as my pain is gone... Secondly, new fitted sports knee brace that has been extremely comfortable. Thanks for what you have done.
