NSA

What is Network Spinal Analysis (NSA)?

Network Spinal Analysis is an exciting development in the field of chiropractic associated with:
* Significant relief of various types of neck and back pain and spinal tension
* Decreased effects of stress on the body.
* Overall well-being and improved quality of life.
It is a safe, gentle and effective approach for everyone, regardless of age or state of health.

How does it work?

NSA utilizes gentle manual contacts to the spine that prompt the brain to focus on the spine.  This heightened awareness, in turn, changes the vibrational tone or tension stored in the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord). This process is called an entrainment. Surface EMG and MRI studies have documented changes in the brain and spinal nerves during entrainments. New and more efficient channels of communications are believed to be initiated between the brain and body. Postural distortions, subluxations and muscle imbalances spontaneously begin to correct. This creates a healthier nervous system with positive ramifications to the health of the whole body and mind, including the spine and the muscular system. Studies currently underway are showing a 20-30% improvement in brain efficiency, helping position NSA as a leading-edge bodymind discipline.

Why the spine?

The spine houses most of the nerves that control body function, and is the communication link between brain and body.  The health of these nerves affect the health & status of most of our internal organs, tissues, head, trunk and limbs. The spinal cord and its overlying meningeal sheath are subject to stress just as our muscles and joints are.  It is believed that the spine can hold a considerable amount of stored emotional and physical tension.  A tense spine creates a tense body and a poor quality of life for the person.

There are 3 levels of care associated with NSA

Level 1 – Connect & Release – Associated with the Season of Discover

The first objectives of NSA are to enhance the connection between brain and body.  As this awareness is promoted, strategies evolve to release tension from the nerves, joints, and muscles of the body.  Breathing is enhanced, resulting in a unique Respiratory Wave that is used both to self-assess and release spinal tension.

As this is occurring in the body, the person also enters a time of self-assessment and discovery.  They learn about their pain/problem and their thoughts, beliefs and habits associated with it.

Level 2 – Transform & Refine – Associated with the Season of Transform

Once a basic level connection and awareness exists between brain and body, the nervous system is able to begin the process of changing/improving neural patterns and habits.  Just as people often continue to limp long after they have healed, patterns and habits develop around areas of injury.  In order for an area to fully heal, the neurological pattern needs to change as well.  The entrainments are usually “deeper” and more tension is processed as old habits fall.  A second unique wave called a Somatopsychic Wave develops.  This wave helps the spine and nervous system to reorganize itself and improve functioning.

The Season of Transform is marked by people making changes and solving their life problems.  This season needs energy to do so, and the spinal tension is now used as an area of a source of this energy.

Level 3 – Awaken & Expand – Associated with the Season of Awaken

In this level of care, we introduce a third element to the system – the heart.  Much more than just a muscular pump, the heart maintains a strong neurological connection to and influence on the brain and nervous system.

In the season of Awaken, the person begins to live a life more authentic to their true self.  They focus on others and on contributing to the community.  Once we have allowed ourselves to change old habits, and learn better self-care, we can awaken to the amazing potential that we are. Whether it be great health, emotional happiness or peace of mind; they are all possible.

The results of Network Spinal Analysis are:

  • Decrease intensity and frequency of pain and symptoms from a variety musculoskeletal problems
  • Dramatic improvement to spinal health and posture
  • Improved joint flexibility and increases muscle relaxation.
  • Improved overall health and wellness.
  • Improved mental outlook.
  • Less need for vigorous manipulation, exercise, and therapies since the body will more readily engage self-healing strategies.
  • A more vibrant state of physical health and well being.

What problems can Chiropractic & NSA help resolve?

  • spinal pain
  • neck pain
  • back pain
  • stiffness
  • spinal arthritis and degeneration
  • disc problems
  • sore or weak muscles
  • headaches
  • fatigue
  • emotional distress
  • lack of vitality
  • lowered immunity
  • digestive disorders
  • hormonal and circulatory problems
  • bowel and intestinal problems
  • ear, nose and throat problems
  • respiratory disorders
  • attention deficit and concentration problems
  • anxiety and lack of motivation

Research findings

A large study of more than 2,800 people receiving NSA demonstrated high degrees of health changes as well emotional and lifestyle improvements. In addition, the longer the care, the more dramatic the changes.
Studies are now in progress examining the long-term benefits of care, and changes in brain and spinal cord function. In addition, there is a growing interest from psychologists, sociologists, neurobiologists, physiologists, bio-mathematicians and bioengineers on the overall mechanisms and benefits of NSA.

“Network Care has a direct effect on client self-reported wellness which is twice that expected from healthy lifestyle practices (exercise, risk avoidance, optimal food choices). Network also has a major indirect effect on wellness by promoting healthy life-style choices.”
