Chronic Pain & Fibromyalgia – Central Sensitization Explained + What To Do About It

You have pain.  Many of my patients do, but for most of them, their pain goes away.  That is, I help them to heal by adjusting their bones, massaging their muscles, and giving them advice on exercise, nutrition and stress management.  However, for some unfortunate ones, the pain does not go away.

Central Sensitization is a condition of the brain, spine and the nervous system where things just don’t work as they should.  The nerves, the brain – they become overly sensitive, so that “normal” things may trigger pain, fatigue, and whole host of symptoms.  I have linked a great article here on Central Sensitization.  Read about it, explore other sites and see if it applies to you.

Now, what do we do about it?

  1. Here is a link to a leading chiropractic researcher (from Ontario) on how chiropractic helps with central sensitization. Yes, regular chiropractic care helps to decrease central sensitization.
  2. Here is an excellent powerpoint presentation on nutritional aspects of managing chronic pain.  Have a look through it and if it is something you’d like to try, please allow us to help you.
  3. If you have read all of this and now know what to do, but still can’t get around to doing it or to staying with your plan, we can help with that too.

If you have pain; if you have chronic pain, we can help.  Call us and schedule an appointment with Dr. Nick and let’s get you started on the road to better health, increased functioning and a better life.
